Intercourse during pregnancy

Most pregnant women wonder about the issue of sexual intercourse during pregnancy and its impact on her health and the baby’s health. Many scientific studies prove that the sexual intercourse during pregnancy is a normal thing with no negative impacts on the woman and the fetus.
All studies affirm that there are specific cases where sexual intercourse is deemed bad for the health of the woman and the fetus as follows:
- In cases where the woman suffers from frequent miscarriage or premature childbirth.
- In cases where the placenta is in an abnormal position.
- Appearance of bleeding during pregnancy.
To avoid any possible complications:
- Choose the side or rear position during the sexual intercourse instead of the abdominal situation in order to avoid placing pressure on the pregnant stomach.
- It is preferable that the woman doesn’t reach her orgasm because it causes uterus contractions.
- The husband must be gentle during the sexual intercourse.
- It is preferable to use a condom during intercourse to reduce the possibility of infection.
In the event the husband suffers from sexually transmitted diseases such as herpes and Chlamydia, it is preferred to avoid sexual intercourse because these diseases may be transmitted to the woman and the fetus leading to serious illnesses.
Risks associated with sexual intercourse during pregnancy differ depending on the pregnancy month: during the first three months, the pregnant woman suffers from symptoms such as morning sickness, vomit and fatigue and may experience a drop in her sex drive.
With the beginning of the fourth month, the symptoms of the first three months end and the woman’s vagina becomes swollen and viscose which increases her sexual desire. Therefore, month four to eight is considered to be the most convenient period for sexual intercourse.
